Thank you for your interest in my classes. One of the benefits of learning online vs an in-person workshop is that you can work through the materials at your own pace, without the pressure of completing a piece over a single weekend, and because you have permanent access to the classes (for as long as this website is up), you have plenty of time even after the course is finished to continue working if you need. I’ve tried to cover the most frequently asked question below. If there’s anything else you would like to know about how the classes are taught you can email me at: lavenderandlark@gmail.com
Please be aware that the dolls I teach my aesthetic and one that I have spent years developing. So, you may not use this doll pattern to sell from commercially. Doll making is a wonderful art form and this workshop is all about building skills and learning techniques that are versatile and can be applied in all sorts of ways in your own doll making journey!
How are the materials presented?
All of the lessons are presented in an online classroom located in a password protected area of this website. Each week you will have access to new modules which are full of clear, informative text, plenty of photographs illustrating different steps, and videos for most classes.
Does the class ‘meet up’ virtually?
Yes, we have weekly webinars where you can ask questions, discuss any challenges you had and share your work with other students. The webinars are optional, but I encourage students to join in. Past students have shared they they benefited a lot from hearing others’ experiences, tips and tricks. Many students come to the class with previous crafting experience and often have a lot of value to add to the lessons with new ideas and techniques that they use in their own crafting.
I will be away for some of the class, can I still sign up?
Yes. You will have permanent access to the online classroom so you have the option to work through the materials at your leisure. Having said that, it is beneficial if you’re able to keep up with the lessons each week as they are released, so that you can make the most of our weekly webinars (which are optional). It’s also helpful to work alongside the other students so you can see the questions and answers that arise each week.
I live in a different time zone, do I need to be online at particular times?
No. You can work through the lessons entirely at your own pace. That’s the best part of learning online! I am currently living in New Zealand, and there are students from all over the world. I always offer a range of webinar times to make it easy for people in all time zones to join in.
Are materials included?
No, materials are not included in the cost of the course. A full resource list for materials will be emailed to you upon registration. Where available resources are listed for Canada, the US, and the UK. Kits will also be available for purchase. Many materials are easy to source and you may be able to find them in local fibre shops.
How often do you reply to questions asked in the Facebook group or email?
I check in with our Facebook group daily to review work shared and any questions that may have been asked. Because I am in New Zealand, I may not see your question straight away, but I check frequently throughout my day and will respond as soon as I see your post. I try to make myself as fully available to you as possible throughout the course. I also stay active on the Lavender & Lark Faerie Makers Circle Facebook group after the course is finished (although not daily), so you can post question there as well if any arrive after the course is finished. Past students have excellent suggestions and feedback to offer in the group as well.
If you have any other questions please send me a message.
Thank you for your interest in learning with me!
