Willem, a wee Faery painter, puts the finishing touches on a last egg. It is nearly Easter and another long year's work has come to an end. The eggs will soon be carefully packed in tiny baskets by the Spring maidens and flown to far away lands where they will be placed with quiet care on the pillows of sleeping boys and girls.
Willem is a soft sculpture doll. He is entirely hand stitched (with the exception of his wings). He has a wire armature wrapped in wool and hand stitched into a cotton tricot skin, allowing him to be gently repositioned. His tiny features are hand embroidered with cotton thread and his golden curls are superfine mohair yarn. He is dressed in an antique linen tunic, with trousers, suspenders, cap and boots made from wool felt. He stands 5.5" tall.
His Easter egg is needle felted wool.
His little acorn stool and wooden table sit in a bed of tightly needle felted wool grass and toadstools.
Willem is a decorative piece and not meant for little hands (there are many small pieces which could be a choking hazard). Not recommended for children under 10.
Willem's price is $250 USD. He will be available in the Dollectable shop where I am participating as a guest artist, on Sunday, March 1st at 7pm EST:
